CT antique shops haul

Flea market and yard sale season is pretty much past us now, here in New England. Mike made his first major fall antique shop search this week in Conneticut.

This is a crumb knife. There is usually another "knife" section, or a brush that accompanies this piece, and it was used to sweep crumbs off of the tablecloth.

I'm not certain what kind of spoon this is - it has a very interesting cut edge.

The major score was multiple pieces of two different grape patterns from the early 1900s. Beautiful pieces! Look for them as bracelets in the shop in a week or two.

Have a great week! Don't forget to visit the shop for last minute Thanksgiving day hostess gifts - there are still a couple of Thankful knives left!

Market Day

The market was slow today, though still worth our while. People kept busy preparing for Hurricane Irene. Here are some pictures of today, with our recently purchased banner. Our display grows a little bigger every week. Mike has made so many bracelets over the last 2 weeks, but due to long hours at his "day" job, only half got finished and displayed.

The funny thing is that we have so many people who want to buy this rock!

We are also selling my hand sculpted fine silver jewelry from Purple Blossom Studio.

Unfortunately, we did not make it out before the rain started (again), so we have a lot of drying out to do!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole east coast this weekend! Stay safe!

We are still on for the Attleboro Farmer's Market tomorrow! It will close down an hour early, at noon, because of Irene. Get there early, if you can!

Major Flea Market Score!!

Mike took off at 5 this morning (ugh), and went to a flea market. He came home with this beauty:

It is a display case for a sword, but we are going to be cleaning it up and altering it slightly to turn it into a jewelry display case for our fairs.
There is gorgeous celtic detailing all along the edge, and the on top corners. As Mike said, it was perfect for his little Viking wife!

We will be using it to display my pure silver jewelry from Purple Blossom Studio.

And, he found this! Tons of Orange Blossom and Violet!! I've been hoping we would find some Violet soon - it's gorgeous! Look for it in the shop soon!

Saturday at the Market

We had another awesome day at the Attleboro Farmer's Market!! The market had even more vendors this week, and despite the weird weather, it was a success!
The weather was supposed to be in the high 90's, and we were all dreading being out there, but instead (oh, joy), it was overcast and in the 70's for most of the time. A storm front threatened for a good hour before it arrived, bringing lightning and thundershowers.

The Cub Scouts were volunteering for the day, and put on a demonstration for us.

Here it comes!

Mike and his dad putting up the walls again for another shower.

Waiting it out.

We'll be there next week!

New shop, new blog!

Hello there! We have just opened up our new etsy shop, Olive Spoon Studio, and this blog is to tell you a bit about that and a bit about us :)
This weekend, I'm going to spend some time here, so check back if you like!
In the meantime, here is a sampling of what our store is about. We make jewelry (and other things) from vintage and antique silverplated flatware. I use the word "we" loosely here. My hubs makes them, I take the photos and run the shop. ;)
Now I'm off to take some Advil for my noseache (weird but true - my headache is centered at the bridge of my nose!). Anyone else get headaches there?
